Our Background Screening Process

Criminal Records

Get Started with a Background Check

  • Statewide, Multi-state and County Criminal Record Searches
  • Global Alert Database Search

Statewide, multi-state and county criminal record searches return specific information under the following classification headings:

  • Court/Case number
  • Date filed
  • Offense type/level
  • Disposition (convictions, dismissals, etc.)

The relevance or meaning of this information depends on your specific screening objective. Federal and state laws require that specific background checks be conducted for specific jobs.

Anyone whose job places him or her in a position of power, authority and trust naturally faces a higher level of employment background screening; and similar scrutiny awaits those applicants who stand to gain some form of privileged access and/or special security clearance upon joining a company.

Tenants of multi-dwelling structures often undergo resident background screening to ensure a level of trust and confidence among strangers, who find themselves united by circumstances that are determined, rather than by a shared personal history that is chosen.

Employers

Most of us spend as much (or more!) time with our co-workers as we do with our friends and families. Negligent hiring can lead to expensive legal proceedings and an even more costly breach of internal trust. Establishing and maintaining employment backround screening standards is not only about productivity and the best-qualified staff; it is about responsibility and respect for the safety and security of the people who truly define an organization.

Landlords

The ideal bottom line achieves a balance of financial, environmental, and social considerations.  A criminal search helps ensure the safety and security of staff, property, and above all else, the tenant community.

Families

Anyone who works with children as a nanny, volunteer, coach, activity leader, tutor, mentor, etc., occupies a position of power, authority and trust that most of us would sooner describe as a sacred duty rather than a legal obligation. For this reason, special screening measures must always be taken to ensure the protection of our children, and the demonstrated responsibility of those whom we entrust with their care.

A statewide criminal search yields criminal records as they are reported by statewide criminal data repositories, and provides landlords/employers with the essential facts about tenant/employee applicants.

A multi-state criminal search performs a criminal record and sex offender database search across almost all states. Presently, the sex offender portion of the search includes all 50 states, as well as the District of Columbia. The criminal portion of the multi-state search currently returns information from 44 states, and also includes the District of Columbia.

A county criminal search is available nationwide and provides the same kind of information as statewide and multi-state criminal searches, but at a county level.

A Global Alert Database search identifies individuals who represent a potential threat to United States National Security. According to the U.S.A. Patriot Act (10/26/01), certain businesses must be in compliance with the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), or be subjected to serious penalties. The Global Alert database search returns information from the most frequently searched alert lists and sources, including:

  • Specially Designated Nationals (SDN)
  • Specially Designated Narcotics Traffickers (SDNT)
  • Specially Designated Global Terrorist List (SDGT)
  • Foreign Terrorist Organizations
  • Other leading sources

All our suppliers are industry leaders in retrieving OFAC data, and are endorsed by the American Bankers Association. The process of Global Alert database searching employs a unique logical cross-referencing against other sources. It produces instant results and reduces the need to perform lengthy manual reviews.

The Global Alert database is continually updated to ensure your protection, by providing you with the most current information available.
